The tool for reducing infections

The Defender sanitizing tool reduces the viral load present in the air by up to 99.9%.
Designed specifically to combat Covid-19, it is an important weapon for reducing infections and also effective against other influenza viruses.

The technology is based on high power UV-C frequency ultraviolet light.

Being an emission-free technology, it is kept running indoors to purify the air in the presence of people.

Biological of the air

Germicidal ultraviolet radiation, in English “Ultraviolet germicidal irradiation” (UVGI), is a sterilization method that uses ultraviolet (UV) light with wavelengths included in the UV-C band (between 100 and 280 nanometers), which modifies the DNA or RNA of the microorganisms and thus prevents them from reproducing or being harmful.

The UV-C technology used as sanitizing against germs and bacteria has been consolidated for decades and has also proved effective against the Sars-Cov-2 virus (Covid-19 pandemic). Several medical research laboratories have demonstrated the effectiveness of UV-C radiation at 254 nm.

After a careful campaign of tests conducted at the Sacco hospital in Milan, the researchers found that a UV-C dose of only 3.7 mJ / cm2 is sufficient to obtain an inactivation of a factor of one thousand on a sample whose density of virus is comparable to that seen in Sars-Cov-2 infection. This is confirmed by a multidisciplinary experimental study carried out by a group of researchers, with different skills, from the National Institute of Astrophysics (INAF), the State University of Milan, the National Cancer Institute of Milan (INT) and the IRCCS Don Gnocchi Foundation.

The words

of science

Below is an excerpt from the literature published by the research laboratory

"We illuminated solutions at different concentrations of viruses with UV light, after a very careful calibration carried out with colleagues from INAF and INT" - says our Prof. Mara Biasin, Professor of Applied Biology - "and we found that one very small dose - 3.7 mJ / cm2, ie equivalent to that delivered for a few seconds by a UV-C lamp placed a few centimeters from the target - to inactivate and inhibit the reproduction of the virus by a factor of 1000, regardless of its concentration ".

The results were published in a preprint of the medrxiv international archive:
“UV-C irradiation is highly effective in inactivating and inhibiting SARS-CoV-2 replication”

The UV dose necessary to counteract Sars-Cov-2 on surfaces is relatively small, but when it comes to sanitizing the air, it must be borne in mind that the virus is in motion, therefore to maintain the correct UV dose in a very short time. A large amount of energy needs to be delivered.
To sanitize the air from Sars-Cov-2, a specific energy dose is required, therefore a calibrated instrument for this purpose.

Considering the severity of the current pandemic, DOMOSA has deemed it appropriate to create a high-performance sanitizing tool, at the hospital level, with a reduction in viral load of a minimum of 99.9% (Log3 according to the technical tables).

Following all these indications, DOMOSA has created the DEFENDER.

Closed cycle forced ventilation

This air sanitization tool is capable of treating up to 160 m3/hour, with radiant power at 254 nm, optical
geometries and air flows, all specifically designed to guarantee the correct UV-C dose to neutralize SARS Cov 2. 99.9%, all with very low noise and low costs.
Consequently, it is clear that even bacteria and viruses that can be neutralized with this dose will no longer
be a danger.

Operation is based on an air intake system and direction towards a UV-C light irradiation tunnel.

The sucked air first passes through a dust filter positioned in the inlet, which has the purpose of blocking the coarsest pollutants and preserving the integrity of the lamps, giving a first purification to the air.

Subsequently, the air enters the irradiation chamber in direct contact with the 4 fluorescent tubes which, thanks to the emission of UV-C 254 nm and 28,000 mJ of radiant optical power, perform the maximum germicidal action.

The air is expelled from the outlet thus causing microbiological abatement.
